Nantucket Yacht Club Adult Sailing Instruction

2016 Information: The Nantucket Yacht Club Sailing Program offers several wonderful options for Adult Sailing Instruction.

ONLINE REGISTRATION FORM (for members only)

Tuesday Night Women’s Clinic
5:00-7:00 PM
This is an introductory sailing experience for our female members, designed to teach basic proficiencies in sailing.  Each class will have a theme designed around competent seamanship, including getting on and off a mooring, safe dock landings, how to reef a sail, upwind sailing and basic points of sail, and capsize recovery!  This is a wonderful way to get on the water and get an introduction to basic skills.

Thursday Night Novice Race Clinic
4:30-6:30 PM
Thursday Night Racing is provided by GHYC, and our Thursday night race clinic is centered around participation in these races.  Participants will learn basic race techniques including managing the starting line, upwind technique and strategies, and downwind technique and strategies.  Participants may sign up individually or as a team of 2-3 people, and will be paired with a coach who will ride in the boat.  Availability on Thursdays is dependent on enrollment for our Women’s Afternoon Clinics.

Women’s Afternoon Clinics
Tuesday 1:00-4:00 PM
Thursday 3:00-6:00 PM
Participants must register for at least 4 consecutive classes.
This is the most structured form of adult sailing instruction at Nantucket Yacht Club.  Women sign up for a minimum of four classes.  Tuesdays focus more on seamanship, with some racing instruction, while Thursdays will be focused primarily on racing instruction and participation in the Thursday Evening Racing.  Participants are encouraged to sign up for much of the summer, as proficiency is gained through repetition and more time on the water!

Cancellation Policy
Cancellations must be received a minimum of 1 week prior to class date, otherwise the participant will be charged for the session.
